The only inhabited island in the Korčula archipelago is the island of Vrnik, known for its quarries. Many famous buildings in the world were built from Vrnik’s stone, along with quite a few palaces from Korčula and Dubrovnik – from the magnificent Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, palaces in Venice, parts of the White House in Washington, to the Budapest Parliament.
